Hello 10th & 11th grade students! The PSAT interest form has been added to your grade level google classroom.  11th grade students are able to take the PSAT free of charge and if 10th grade students want to participate, it will cost $16.  This fee can be paid through the MySchoolBucks website.  Please know the PSAT is NOT required for graduation nor is it required for college applications.  This is completely voluntary.  It is simply an option for students to practice taking a standardized test if they are interested in taking the SAT at a later date.  Students need to complete the form by August 19 @ 3pm if they want to take the PSAT on Saturday October 16

EWA News:

Extra yearbooks are on sale, $55.00. Please come see Mrs. Ray in the HS office.

Board Announcement from August 1, 2021: Effective immediately, all students, staff, and visitors to East Wake Academy will be required to wear a mask.  This is a change from our original plan that was shared on July 23, 2021.  The Governor, CDC, and DHHS have updated their guidance in the toolkit based on the increase of COVID cases related to the Delta variant.  Our five-county service area has returned to the High-risk category, and cases have doubled in the past week.

The board’s goal is to have students consistently in school and provide them with a safe learning environment.  The board understands that we are still in a global pandemic, and COVID is a public health issue.  The board is tasked with overseeing what is best for all students. The Governor and NCDHHS continue to provide guidance to schools through the NC Strong School’s Toolkit.  The guidance now uses SHOULD for recommendations to mitigate the spread of COVID.

Starting IMMEDIATELY:

  • All K-12 students must wear a face covering while inside school buildings (Mask must cover nose and mouth)
  • All staff must wear a face covering
  • All visitors to campus must wear a face covering while inside buildings
  • Masks are not required outside or on the playground

The board has rescheduled its meeting for August 10, 2021.  The board will revisit the masking requirements at that time.

CLUBS:

Club Interest Day this Friday: Clubs will be in designated teacher’s classroom during Club Interest Day this Friday. Maps and Club lists will be posted this afternoon and Friday.

SPORTS:

*Please note that masks are currently to be worn to campus and used during indoor sports. Please contact Coach Eason if you have any questions. (ceason@eastwakeacademy.org)
