To: All EWA Students, Families and Staff From: EWA Board of Directors Re: Statement of Support for EWA Date: April 17, 2025 The EWA Board of Directors appreciates and values feedback from our school community. We have received a high volume of communication recently and we have read and that feedback. While we recognize that not everyone may agree with change at EWA, we value all perspectives and remain confident in the direction EWA is heading. In today’s dynamic educational landscape, schools must continually grow and innovate to ensure students are prepared for success—staying the same means missing opportunities to excel. We are encouraged by the positive developments that occurred this year including returning to a “B” school status, establishment of the fundraising Foundation and our evolving partnership with Wake Tech. The board supports all of the decisions made by administration and is enthusiastic about the exciting opportunities ahead. EWA’s school community will see improvement in regards to clear and prompt communication about pertinent change, improvements, and transitions. We are always evaluating where we stand today and where we are going as a school community. EWA encourages your participation in a school wide survey in the coming weeks as we shape the future direction of our school.

Pink Dress Down Day tomorrow! Bring a minimum of $4 to dress down!

Reminder the dance concert is tomorrow night at 7:00pm! Doors open at 6:30pm, and tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students, and free for staff and children under 4 years of age. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Please come out and support your EWA Dance Department.

First graders in Ms. Pridgen's class made a new friend Tuesday! They all received a Peep that they named and kept safe throughout their activities. At the end of the day students wrote short narratives about their day with their Peep!

First graders had a scaly fun time today! The Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores 🐚🌊 came for an On-house field trip. Students learned about different reptiles 🦎and got up close and personal with a non-venomous snake 🐍!

There will be a special EWA pink Dress Down Day on Thursday to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness. All proceeds will be donated to a local cause. Please bring a minimum of $4 on Thursday to participate.

EWA Families, Apparently not all K-11 parents received an email from Strawbridge about their child's proof from Spring Dress Down pictures, so they sent us paper ones. If your child was photographed on 3/28 then they should be bringing home a proof sheet either today or the first of next week with directions on how to order online. Somehow an old school "JC Penney" style picture got mixed in with ours! If you know who these silly staff are, please let us know 🙃😁😆😀

These K-4 students were recognized as their class’s characters trait winner for self-control. They are great examples of how to stop, think, and then act to help stay in control and make good choices!

Emergency lunches are needed for K4, MA and HS! These can be dropped off and any office. Ex: Chef Boyardee buckets, Ramen noodles, Mac & cheese buckets, etc Thank you!

Lightening has been spotted a second time. For the safety of all our students and staff our new dismissal time is 3:22.

Lightening has been reported during carpool. For everyone's safety we are holding students in the buildings until 3:15.

We are excited to announce our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair! This special event gives students the opportunity to build their home libraries and deepen their love of reading. Plus, every purchase made benefits our school! Please read the flyer carefully! There is a lot of important information including information on setting up your child's e-wallet, volunteer opportunities and the date and time for Family Night. Thanks to the creativity of Josie Snead and the teachers on our Student Culture Committee, the morning announcements in Middle Academy have been transformed into a radio-style broadcast! 🎧📻 This week, students and staff have been thoroughly entertained and informed, and we can’t wait to see how this new tradition evolves. Huge thanks to everyone involved for bringing energy and creativity to our mornings!

If you do not receive an email in a few days go to www.strawbridge.net and use their live chat feature. *if your child was absent on 3/28 there will not be a makeup date

7th grade toured the Holocaust museum in Richmond, VA on Monday. There were a lot of great questions and learning that took place!

The High School Cancer Awareness Club is hosting a volleyball tournament Wednesday!

We would like to thank one of our families who donated a significant amount of resources to improving our mobile classrooms. Both units received new skirting and blinds. When I asked the family if we could thank them publicly, they declined, however they said they love EWA and wanted to make a positive difference. 8th grade science is studying water quality. Students observed the pH level of various types of water sources such as bleached water, vinegar water, and other types to determine if it's an acid or a base. Mrs. Dixon and her students also took advantage of the nice weather today and went to the creek next to the school to test pH levels.

Quarter 4 is here! These third grade mathematicians are practicing fact fluency! ➕➖✖️➗ How can I help my elementary student increase fact fluency at home? You can use dice, a deck of playing cards, pencil and paper or flash cards.
