EWA was honored to host the Zebulon Chamber luncheon today. Congratulations to EWA Junior Cara Beth Erickson who won an Art Scholarship! I know a lot of our parents do not live in Zebulon, but please be sure to support local businesses when you are in town!

Good afternoon EWA. As previously mentioned, we had a small fire today in the HS. Fortunately no one was hurt and the damage was contained to the 2nd floor teacher's lounge. All students and staff are now permitted to re-enter the building. For tomorrow:  -  Any personal items left in the school will be secured. First thing tomorrow students may come in and sign for their personal items.  -  All classes will run as scheduled    Thank you for your cooperation and a special thank you to the Zebulon Fire Department for their assistance.  Anthony Pirrello, Executive Director

Good afternoon EWA. This afternoon a microwave in the HS caused a small fire in the teacher's lounge. All students and staff were evacuated safely and thankfully there are no reported injuries. All HS students who are able to leave school without reentering the building are dismissed. Any student who needs or wishes to reenter the building today must wait until it is cleared by the fire department. All HS students who are waiting must wait in the Middle Academy.  Parents who wish to pick up their HS students early may go to the Middle Academy for dismissal. Please be very careful as we have first responders on the scene clearing smoke from the HS building.  Once we have spoken with the fire department we will have more information regarding tomorrow's classes. Stay tuned.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Anthony Pirrello, Executive Director

Dear EWA families, students and staff. Our system to deliver mass emails is currently down as the company is doing scheduled maintenance so I am using this format to communicate until it is back online. This afternoon we were made aware of a threat the Zebulon Police Department deemed non-credible (see details below). While we are grateful to the ZPD for their determination, we will see an increased police presence throughout the day on campus tomorrow. I would also parents to take this time to talk with your child to assure reporting any comment resembling a threat is the right thing to do. The sooner we know of the existence of a possible threat, the faster law enforcement and EWA can react. Thank you for your continued support of EWA. Sincerely, Anthony Pirrello, Executive Director Details of the non-credible threat: Thursday evening (2-16-23) one of our students received a friend invite on SnapChat. Thinking it was someone from our school he accepted the request. A generic greeting was initiated with questioning "who is this''. The response from the unknown party stated in lines of " This is the Taliban and we are going to blow up your school". The student immediately deleted the conversation with no other communication. We have no reason to believe the people who are making the threat know which school our student attends. Today, 2-20-23, communication was made by the parent to Wendell PD, which they referred to Wake SO, which referred to the proper district, ZPD. ZPD, after their investigation, made contact to the EWA Director of Safety and communicated the above and deemed the threat at this time to be non-credible. In concert with ZPD our course of action tomorrow will be: Business as usual with a high vigilance from our internal security team. A high police presence on campus throughout the day. We will be in communication with ZPD if any further information comes about and inform our families as soon as reasonably possible, with student safety being the highest priority.

Dear EWA families. We have been in constant contact with ZPD. While there has been no specific threat to EWA, we will continue to stay in Code Yellow until ZPD feels the situation is stable. All our exterior doors are locked so please do not come to campus or expect your student to leave campus until the Code Yellow is lifted. No food deliveries will be allowed however we are preparing to ensure all students have food for lunch. The safety of our students is our top priority and we appreciate your continued understanding and support during this situation.

Dear EWA Families EWA is on a Code Yellow as a precaution. We received a report Zebulon Middle School is on Code Red. There has been no specific threat to EWA, however the safety of our students is our first priority. Code Yellow does not allow our exterior doors to open so please do not come to the campus until the lockdown has been lifted.
